Send Text Screen

Manual Text Input via Assistant

The PeekSmith screen allows manual text entry through an on-screen input field. This is especially useful if you have an assistant who can type the text you want to peek. To use this method, simply enter the desired text in the input field and press the โ€œSendโ€ button to transmit it to your PeekSmith device.

Using Bluetooth Remotes

In addition to manual input, you can use compatible Bluetooth remotes such as Atom, Wilson Nexus, or Thoughtcast Versa to send text to the PeekSmith screen. These remotes emulate Bluetooth keyboards, allowing you to type remotely.

Important Limitation for Bluetooth Keyboard Emulation

Please note: Bluetooth keyboard emulation will only work if the PeekSmith screen is active and the input field is currently focused. This is a general limitation of how Bluetooth keyboards interact with mobile devices and apps – they require the input field to be in focus to transmit keystrokes.

Advanced Remote Integration with Atom

If the Atom remote is connected via the PeekSmith appโ€™s Settings, it offers more advanced functionality. You can use Atom even when the screen is locked or when the PeekSmith app is running in the background, providing greater flexibility during performance.

Sending Text with an Enter Key

When using a Bluetooth remote, there is an optional toggle (currently unnamed in the interface) that enables you to send the typed text by pressing the Enter key. This feature streamlines the input process and can make text transmission more seamless during live performances.

Text Display Customization on PeekSmith 3 and Bond

When a PeekSmith 3 or Bond device is connected, you have additional control over how the text is displayed. This includes options to adjust text wrapping, scrolling, and the font to use.

PeekSmith 3 supports the Roboto font with Arabic and Hebrew support.

Additional Uses

Triggering Powerful Actions with Entered Text

Beyond simply entering numbers or text for peeking, the information you input can be used in a wide range of powerful ways.

With a compatible remote, such as the SB Mote or Atom, you can press a button to instantly trigger an action you configured to route the text to various external services or tools:

  • Send the entered text to Teleport, with support for three different presentation styles.
  • Send it to a Web API for custom processing or integrations.
  • Forward it to apps like Inject, Bridge, or Glyphs for further use in your routines.
  • Announce the text out loud using the built-in Text-to-Speech (TTS) functionality. See the Audio Assistant Add-on.
